Helpful Hints

• Always watch for warning signs of trouble with your sewage system:
  • Sewage Surfacing on top of field
  • Sewage backing up into the house
  • Mushy / wet ground around tank or drain field
  • Slow draining toilets or drains (Gurgling)
  • Sewage odors
• We recommend pumping your septic tank every 3-5 years (Depending how many are in your household and your water usage)
• Commercial septic tank additives are not necessary and not recommended
• Conserve on water usage
• Divert surface water away from your septic system (Roof Drains, Sump Pumps, hoses ect..)
• Do not allow vehicles larger than a riding mower to drive on or park over your drain field area
• Do not flush anything that will not dissolve in water
• Do not plant trees or shrubs over sewage systems
• Do not pour down the drain or flush hazardous chemicals
• Use detergents and soaps which are low in phosphates
